The Fiji Times reports on November 11, 2011 that three coastal villages on the Fijian island of Kadavu are being threatened by rising sea levels, with government officials advising that all new structures be built on higher ground.

Nearly 1,000 turtles and 170 dugongs in Australia perished as of November 14, 2011, after extreme rain and floodwaters caused silt plumes to spread to the ocean, covering beds of sea grass, which are the marine animals' primary source of food.
